Overview
Few stems are as adaptable to different aquascaping styles. Repeated trimming creates dense bushes, while strong stable conditions can encourage warmer coloration.

Aquascaping use
Plant a large group and shape the top line deliberately. Its fine leaves add depth behind coarse rosettes or stone.

Planting
Insert individual stems with small gaps. Replant healthy tops after trimming and periodically remove congested old bases.
Flexible; nutrient substrate improves rooting

Light & CO₂
It survives moderate conditions, but compact growth and color need stronger light plus stable carbon. Light alone does not guarantee red foliage.

Substrate & fertilization
Dose complete water-column nutrients consistently. Avoid chasing color through severe nitrogen limitation, which can weaken growth.
Feeding behavior: Water-column feeder. Nutrient demand: moderate.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Top regularly and allow side shoots to form. Alternate trimming zones so the entire group does not look freshly cut at once.
