Overview
Polysperma grows almost anywhere water sits still, sprinting to the surface in dim, unfertilized tanks that starve everything else. That indestructibility made it a classic beginner plant abroad and an ecological problem in warm climates, hence its regulated status.

Aquascaping use
Where legal, it is instant background jungle and a nutrient sponge for new or algae-troubled tanks. Its pink-tipped variants add color at zero difficulty.

Planting
Any fragment with a node roots and runs; planting technique is nearly irrelevant. Space stems to slow the inevitable crowding.

Light & CO₂
Thrives from low light upward with no CO₂; more energy only raises the trimming frequency. Pink tones appear under stronger light.

Substrate & fertilization
It scavenges what it needs from fish load alone in most tanks. Dosing simply accelerates it.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Cut back weekly in earnest setups and remove every fragment, both for tidiness and for legal responsibility. Tops replant instantly if wanted.

In the United States this is a Federal Noxious Weed; import and interstate movement are regulated, and state rules vary. Verify local law, never release it, and dispose of every trimming securely.
