Overview
Glossostigma was Amano's first great lawn, and its spade-shaped leaf pairs still define the fast, hungry carpet. It grows flat only under strong overhead light; the moment shade touches it, stems tilt upward and the illusion of turf breaks.

Aquascaping use
Run it as an open, sunlit lawn to the front glass with nothing overhanging it. Its slightly larger leaf reads warmer and softer than HC at typical viewing distance.

Planting
Plant plugs of two or three nodes at close intervals in fine, fertile substrate; runners close the gaps within weeks. It also dry-starts exceptionally well.
Fine active substrate

Light & CO₂
High, unshadowed light and steady CO₂ keep it prostrate; that geometry is non-negotiable. Cooler-than-tropical temperatures suit its origins.

Substrate & fertilization
Feed root and column both; its speed runs on real nutrition. Starved carpets pale and slow before thinning.
Feeding behavior: Mixed feeder. Nutrient demand: high.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Mow to a low, even height and remove clippings; layered old growth yellows beneath new. Replant plugs from healthy trimmings to repair wear.
