Overview
Parvula is the approachable member of the hairgrass clan, a near-worldwide sedge of brackish margins and pond edges. It runs slower and slightly taller than the ‘Mini’ selection but starts from a far lower demand floor, making real grass carpets possible without CO₂ hardware.
Size note: More light and supplemental CO₂ accelerate runner formation but are not baseline requirements.

Aquascaping use
Sweep it around stones and across midfield flats where a five-to-eight-centimeter meadow suits the scale. It pairs naturally with sand paths and rounded pebbles.

Planting
Split pots into many small plugs, planted in a grid a few centimeters apart in fine substrate. Trim the blades by half at planting to push energy into runners.

Light & CO₂
It tolerates low light, though carpet speed and density scale directly with intensity; CO₂ is accelerant, not fuel. Weak setups get sparse meadows, not dead ones.

Substrate & fertilization
Root tabs through the carpet area drive runner spread. Column dosing is a background supplement.
Feeding behavior: Root feeder. Nutrient demand: moderate.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Mow occasionally to even the sward and remove floating clippings. Rake dead blades out of dense old carpets with fingers.
