Overview
This compact Eleocharis form creates one of the finest textures available in planted aquariums. Runner speed varies greatly with carbon, light, and substrate conditions.

Aquascaping use
Allow small tufts to weave between stones or create a continuous Iwagumi carpet. Its vertical blades contrast well with round-leaved foreground plants.

Planting
Split into tiny plugs and insert deeply enough to anchor the roots. Space plugs rather than planting one large dense clump.
Fine-grained active substrate preferred

Light & CO₂
Medium to high light and reliable CO₂ encourage low, spreading runners. Weak conditions tend to produce slow, taller growth.

Substrate & fertilization
A nutrient-retentive substrate supports runners; complete water-column fertilization fills gaps. Root tabs can refresh older inert substrate.
Feeding behavior: Root feeder. Nutrient demand: moderate.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Trim blades with sharp scissors and remove cuttings immediately. Thin congested areas by pulling selected runners.
