Overview
Spiralis produces long, narrow leaves with a slight twist, rising from rice-paddy country where it endures both flood and near-drought. That seasonal toughness translates to an aquarium plant that shrugs off conditions most background plants resent.

Aquascaping use
Use it where Vallisneria would be the obvious choice but feels too ordinary: back walls, corners, and behind hardscape in low-tech tanks. The slight spiral in each leaf keeps large stands from looking flat.

Planting
Set crowns in deep substrate and give it a season to build its root mass. It spreads by runners into an eventual thicket, more slowly than Vallisneria but more permanently.

Light & CO₂
Low light and no CO₂ are its native register. Extra energy mostly accelerates runner production rather than changing its look.

Substrate & fertilization
Deep root feeding suits it; renew tabs yearly in lean substrates. It draws little from the water column.
