Overview
Deccanensis grows in strict vertical candles of needle-whorled green, resembling a plantation of miniature pines. In its monsoon-pool habitat it lives fast between wet seasons, and in the aquarium it keeps that tidy, columnar discipline uncommon among bushy stems.

Aquascaping use
Plant a grove behind stone for a formal, architectural backdrop; the parallel spires read as intentional design. It contrasts superbly with rounded leaf shapes.

Planting
Set cuttings upright in nutritious substrate with even spacing to preserve the plantation effect. Crooked planting shows forever in so vertical a plant.

Medium light and optional CO₂ keep the needles dense along the whole spire. In weak light the columns hollow from below.

Substrate & fertilization
An earnest feeder; consistent macros keep the green vivid and growth even. It flags hunger with pale, sparse new whorls.
Feeding behavior: Water-column feeder. Nutrient demand: high.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Top to height and replant crowns; cut stems re-shoot below the cut, thickening the grove. Cull weakened old stems during replant cycles.
