Overview
Pinnatifida looks nothing like other hygros: deeply lobed leaves, patinated bronze coloring, and a willingness to grip hardscape with anchoring roots. From Western Ghats river rock it inherited both the epiphyte habit and a taste for flowing, oxygen-rich water.

Aquascaping use
Attach small portions to wood or stone where the rusty foliage breaks up green monotony, or plant it as an irregular midground bush. It became a nature-aquarium staple precisely for that hardscape integration.

Planting
Either plant stems conventionally or glue offcuts to hardscape and let holdfast roots take over. Runners along the substrate extend colonies on their own.

Light & CO₂
Medium light and CO₂ keep it compact and richly colored; without carbon it stretches and dulls. Good flow noticeably improves it.

Substrate & fertilization
Feed the column consistently; attached plants depend on it entirely. Sparse feeding mutes the signature rust tones.
Feeding behavior: Mixed feeder. Nutrient demand: moderate.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Pinch tips constantly; unpinched stems race vertically and abandon the compact form. Replant or re-glue the pinched tops to spread the patina.
