Overview
Water wisteria is a textbook example of heterophylly: the same stem grows simple lobed leaves in poor conditions and deeply divided lace under light and warmth. That responsiveness makes it both a lovely bush and a live readout of your tank's energy level.

Aquascaping use
Bushy and pale green, it fills midground gaps and softens equipment lines in community tanks. Laid sideways and pinned, it will even root along the stem into a coarse ground cover.

Planting
Plant cuttings a node deep with generous spacing; each becomes a wide bush, not a column. It roots in days.

Light & CO₂
Grows in low light with plain leaves; brighter tanks summon the intricate fern-like form. CO₂ optional at every level.

Substrate & fertilization
A hungry scavenger that polishes off excess nutrients, useful in newly cycled tanks. Feed normally and watch for pale tops if the tank runs lean.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Prune weekly in good conditions; it regrows from every cut. Replant tops or remove them, and thin interior stems before they self-shade.
