Overview
Vesuvius was selected for a tight, consistent twist that its parent species only hints at. The spiraling ribbons rise like slow smoke, and because it spreads by runners, the effect multiplies into a curling thicket over months.
Size note: Often remains about 15–25 cm tall, but some systems produce leaves near 40 cm.

Aquascaping use
Its unruly curls read best as a loose midground stand against calmer foliage. It offers Vallisneria-style vertical energy for tanks too small for actual Vallisneria.

Planting
Plant in nutritious substrate and let runners wander; redirect them by hand where you want density. Individual plantlets root quickly.

Light & CO₂
Medium light maintains tight curls and compact height. CO₂ accelerates spread and can push leaves toward their taller limit.

Substrate & fertilization
Root tabs power the runner network; supplement the column modestly. Hungry stands straighten and pale.
Feeding behavior: Root feeder. Nutrient demand: moderate.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Remove old leaves at the base and cull surplus plantlets to keep the stand airy. The twist cannot be trimmed into; only fresh growth carries it.
