Overview
Where the Sri Lankan crypts trend brown and moody, pontederiifolia stays a clean spring green with a soft sheen. It grows a little larger and more open than wendtii types, filling the midground with rounded, unhurried foliage.

Aquascaping use
Its pale leaves lighten crypt-heavy layouts that risk turning murky. Place it where it catches light between darker rosettes or in front of shadowed wood.

Planting
Plant in nutritious substrate with the crown exposed and let it acclimate undisturbed. Established plants send runners in a widening circle.

Comfortable in low light; slightly brighter conditions firm up the leaf posture. CO₂ remains a convenience, not a requirement.

Root tabs feed it best, with regular column dosing as backup. Pale, thin new leaves signal a hungry root zone.
