Overview
Beckettii has been in the hobby for over a century, long enough to prove itself in every water type the hobby has invented. Its olive-brown leaves with purple undersides deepen in color under stronger light, giving each stand a slightly different mood.

Aquascaping use
Drift it through the midground where its muted metallics bridge green foregrounds and darker hardscape. It suits heritage-style community tanks as naturally as modern scapes.

Planting
Plant crowns proud of the substrate in an established tank rather than a freshly started one; mature biology smooths its arrival. Expect the customary crypt sulk, then steady expansion.

Light & CO₂
Genuinely undemanding about light, with color as the main variable: more light, more bronze. CO₂ is unnecessary.

Substrate & fertilization
Root tabs in lean substrates, otherwise the leavings of a stocked tank suffice. It is among the least hungry crypts.
Feeding behavior: Root feeder. Nutrient demand: moderate.

Growth, trimming & propagation
Remove weathered outer leaves occasionally. Split off rooted runners to expand the stand or share.
